Location: Northern Virginia Campus.
Description: George W. Johnson University
Center Master Plan.
Firm's Responsibilities: The initial role of
Higgins & Gerstenmaier was to master plan an approximate
15-acre central core of the University within the framework of
an existing campus. Through careful analysis and siting
of the new building, an urban focal point for the campus was
created. Intricate hardscape, multiple grade changes,
and formal lawns form a dynamic and diverse setting for the
100,000 s.f. building that is equally as dynamic in concept
and technology. The all-encompassing site and building
are the "Crossroads for Learning" at George Mason
University.
